OPENING DAY COMES TO A CLOSE WITH PETER BAKER OUT IN FRONT

The first round of the 2019 Farmfoods European Senior Masters has come to a close with European Tour winner and the week’s event host Peter Baker out on top.

The ex-Ryder Cup player completed his round with a score of -6 which included a remarkable eagle on the 18th. This performance saw him finish the round one shot ahead of PGA Tour player Dan Olsen. The American star ended his 18 on -5.

Then, in joint third place comes a number of players. This includes Argentinian Mauricio Molina, European Tour winner Markus Brier, David Shacklady who already has two Staysure wins this season, Swedish star Jarmo Sandelin, and 2017 champion Stephen Dodd.

On his opening round performance Peter said: “I got off to a really good start and played a bit in and out on the front none. But then on the back nine I got a good birdie on 10 unfortunately then got a bogey on 11 but played really well after that not dropping a shot and made a lovely eagle on the 17th. All in all it was a great day. I’m just going to try and play well again tomorrow you never know what conditions will be like but they were amazing today. The crowds were also great and I’m just going to try and do the same again tomorrow.”

In the team competition, it is Team Carr who has the lead coming in with a score of -11.
