Renowned for his 1991 Masters victory, Ian Woosnam OBE has now been announced as one of the stars who will be taking part at this year’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters. The Staysure Tour icon, who spent 52 weeks at the top of the golf world rankings in 1991, will be hoping to scoop home the title at this year’s event, and a share of the €200,000 prize fund that comes with it.
‘Woosie’ as he is affectionally known, isn’t the only big name who will be heading to the Forest of Arden for the event, as tournament host and former Ryder Cup star Peter Baker will also be competing for the prize.
Last year saw Woosnam add to his illustrious career, when added to the World Golf Hall of Fame, something only a few players in the game have achieved.
His inclusion demonstrates the calibre of players expected at this year’s event, and tournament host Peter Baker explained why he was delighted to have him on board this year.
He said: “As a fellow Ryder Cup player, and close friend, I have had the personal pleasure of playing alongside Woosie on courses around the world, many times, and it is fantastic news that he will once again play at this event. He always brings a competitive edge to the game and a player of his history will bring in more spectators and increase the profile of the three-day event.”
This year’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters takes place from 4–7 October and there are limited playing opportunities still available. Register for your FREE tickets by visiting https://europeanseniormasters.com/.
