Following a thrilling week in which Thomas Levet secured the Scottish double at Royal Aberdeen, attention now turns to the Farmfoods European Senior Masters 2021 at the stunning Forest of Arden course.
Levet, a six-time European Tour winner, outlasted rival Markus Brier on the first play-off hole at the Scottish Senior Open, taking the title after the pair were tied nine under par after 54 holes.
Levet and Brier will now reunite in two-weeks time for the next stop in the Legends Tour, the historic Farmfoods European Senior Masters.
Hosted by former European Ryder Cup representee Peter Baker, the tournament promises plenty of exciting action as the rivalry continues in Meriden, Birmingham, on 30th September – 3rd October 2021.
“What an amazing few weeks it has been,” said Baker.
“Here you have two pros of the game who have been putting on some truly excellent displays, and here we are, ahead of the next stop on the Legends Tour, with both Thomas and Markus set to meet again.
“We’re all looking forward to seeing what each has left in the tank, and they’ll be joined by some remarkable names all competing for the title.”
The Forest of Arden course, which has hosted the Farmfoods European Senior Masters since its inception in 2017, boasts a rich history, having been the venue for the British Masters and the English Open during the 1990s.
Previous winners of the tournament include Welshman Stephen Dodd, who secured a stunning 40-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole in 2017.
Levet took the title last year, and will be hoping to outlast a stunning field, which includes former US Open winner Michael Campbell, Open Championship winner Paul Lawrie OBE, and the legendary Ian Woosnam OBE.
Joining them will also be Frenchman Jean-François Remésy, five-time European Tour winner Barry Lane and Welshman Phillip Price among a stellar field.
Amateurs will also get the chance to team up with the pros, with sporting duo Teddy Sheringham and Alan McInally taking to the tee across the first three days of play.
Commenting on the action ahead, John Hayes, CEO of event organiser’s Champions UK plc said:
“We’re once again blessed with a fantastic lineup for this year’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters tournament.
“What the Tour here does is give a platform befitting true legends of game. The competition has never been better, particularly when you look at what the likes of Thomas [Levet] and Markus [Brier] have been doing in recent weeks – a rivalary that will continue to unfold at the Forest of Arden
“I’d like to thank Eric Herd of Farmfoods for his continued support, as well as Marriot for being such wonderful hosts.”
This year’s winner will take home an impressive €50,000 and luckily, spectators will be able to watch all the action unfold, with tickets now available online.
