On a chilly day at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel and Country Club, the eventual winners of the Alliance team event were the pairing of Gary Marks and Steve Staunton, with a score of -14.
The pairing got their round underway with a shotgun start at 1.15pm, due to weather delays, the persistent rain that threatened to see the second round of the 2018 Farmfoods European Senior Masters postponed did not go away.
Marks and Staunton, shot a great score of -7 to win on countback, from James Kingston and Jeremy Wilson (-14), and in third place with a score of -13, again on countback, came Jarmo Sandelin and amateurs Duncan Sinclair and Forest of Arden captain Stephen Bennett.
Third placed amateur, Bennett took home a prize of a small Sub70 suitcase, a Vega boot bag and cap, while Jarmo Sandelin walked away with a bottle of Moet champagne. The second placed pair of Kingston and Wilson won a medium Sub70 suitcase, a Vega holdall and cap, with the professional taking a bottle of Moet.
Eventual winners, Marks and Staunton, took home a large Sub70 suitcase, Eleven golf bag and 3 + 4 rescue clubs, leather score card, Duca del Cosma shoes and a 1 night stay with dinner, D&B and a round of golf for two, across 5 Marriott Country Clubs in the UK.
The Professional Championship moves into its third and final day on Sunday, with a two-way tie for the overall lead, between Peter T Wilson and Santiago Luna on -7 under par.
