MARKUS BRIER LEADING THE FARMFOODS EUROPEAN SENIOR MASTERS

After the first day’s play in the Alliance event at this year’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters, it is European Tour winner, Markus Brier who has the lead.

After a fantastic opening round, his score of -7 sees him two  strokes clear of Spanish star, Santiago Luna and three ahead of  1991 Masters winner, Ian Woosnam OBE. Event host, Peter Baker is four strokes behind on -3.

Following the conclusion of his round, Markus said: “It was very good. I had a good putt on the first as I started hitting it a bit closer and the rest of the round was also good. I hit a lot of greens, I struggled a little bit in the middle and holed some long ones. I got three birdies where I hit it really well and at the end my long game was ok but it was all good overall.”

This season is Brier’s first on the Staysure Tour and tomorrow will see the action continue on the Championship course at the Forest of Arden as players compete for a share of the €200,000 prize fund.
