TEAM SOFIDEL COMES OUT ON TOP IN OPENING DAY PRO-AM

The Farmfoods European Senior Masters got off to a fantastic start today, as Team Sofidel took home the win in the Pro-Am.

Today’s field included the likes of 1991 Masters winner, Ian Woosnam OBE, French stars, Thomas Levet and Jean van de Velde, Italian legend, Costantino Rocca, European Tour winner, Jarmo Sandelin, Staysure Tour player, Gary Wolstenholme MBE and event host, Peter Baker.

In what was an action packed start to the event, it was Team Sofidel who claimed victory with a score of 90 points. They were made up of South African professional James Kingston and amateurs, Danny Webster, Derek Kerr and Chris Quinn.   

Castle Gate Financial Management were in second place with a score of 89 alongside Challenge Tour star, Paul Streeter and Woburn Whizzes in third with a score of 86. They were lead by former Ryder Cup star, Thomas Levet.

Tomorrow is where the competitive aspect of the event gets underway, as the Alliance event begins. Professionals will be joined by amateurs as they take to the Forest of Arden’s Championship course to compete for a share of the €200,000 prize fund.
