The 2019 Farmfoods European Senior Masters got underway with a Pro-Am today, seeing Reynard’s Raiders come out on top.
28 teams headed out onto the Forest of Arden course with Reynard’s Riders clinching victory with a score of 93 points. This was enough to clinch victory over the likes of second placed Margetts on 89 and Farmfoods 2 and SecureAUTH who tied for third place on 88 points.
The team was made up of professional Mike Reynard and amateurs Louis Sanders, Steve Reynard and Tony Murtagh of West Country Investments. Tony is an extremely valued supporter of this tournament.
Among the teams were professionals including 1991 Masters winner Ian Woosnam OBE, 1999 Open winner Paul Lawrie OBE, Ryder Cup star and event host Peter Baker, European Tour winner Paul Broadhurst, Ryder Cup winner Thomas Levet and last year’s champion Santiago Luna.
All of these star names will be in the mix when the tournament proper gets underway tomorrow as they battle it out for a slice of the €200,000 prize fund €50,000 of which goes to the winner.
After today’s Pro-Am a prize giving took place as well as an evening dinner attended by amateurs and professionals.
Here money was also raised for the event’s official charity partner The Lord’s Taverners. The UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, their work directly impacts the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children across the country.
